Herbarium Universitatis Daugavpiliensis (DAU) is located in Study and Research Center “Ilgas” (Institute of Life Sciences and Technology, Daugavpils University), Augšdaugava Municipality, Skrudaliena parish.

Office and seminar rooms, microscopes and identification keys are available in the Herbarium. Accommodation for long-term stay of visitors is available in “Ilgas” (dormitory type overnight rooms, kitchen, shower).

The herbarium consists of around 115 000 vascular plant, bryophyte, lichen, algae and fungi specimens. Herbarium collections are supplemented with more than 3500 specimens every year and they are part of the Latvian National Herbarium. Most of the herbarium material is collected in Latvia (around 85 %), but specimens from other Baltic countries are also deposited: Northern Europe, Central Europe, Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean region, Far East, Africa, North America, Central America.

Herbarium currently includes: vascular plants: 85000, fungi and lichens around 24000, bryophytes more than 1000 specimens.

DAU herbarium has been registered in the New York Botanical Garden electronic database since 2007.

Herbarium of Institute of Latvian Agriculture is included in DAU herbarium since 2017.

Ķemeri National Park herbarium (500 specimens) is included in the DAU herbarium since 2018.

DAU herbarium is included in the International network GBIF: The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (DOI: 10.15468/owig1t), where at the moment 54 918 DAU records are available (https://www.gbif.org/dataset/488416a3-50f1-43a0-a1ce-daf1cdbf84dd).

DAU herbarium has been digitized in the PlutoF database platform since 2021.
