The aim of the project:
To reduce the fragmentation of study programmes at DU and strengthen the sharing of resources. The project activities are focused on DU’s involvement in improving the quality of the Latvian education system and preparing professionals who meet the needs of the labour market.
Planned results of the project:
Within the framework of the project, five new study programmes will be developed, tested, and licensed: – Professional Bachelor’s Study Programme“Business and Financial Processes”. This study programme will be developed on the basis of the PBSP “Economics” and the professional master’s study program (PMSP) “Economics” and will offer students the opportunity to choose between a qualification as an economist or a financier; – professionalbachelor’s study programme “Music” will be developed on the basis of the PBSP “Music” and PMSP “Music” and will provide students with the opportunity to specialize in playing various musical instruments, solo singing, conducting or music theory; – a professional master’s study programme in Psychology will be created by consolidating the academic bachelor’s study program (ABSP) in Psychology and the PMSP in Educational Psychology. Upon completion of this programme, students will be able to specialize in counselling psychology or educational and school psychology; – an academic master’s study programme in Biology will be established by consolidating the AMSP in Biology and the AMSP in Nature Recreation. The new programme will implement an interdisciplinary approach and offer students two specialization modules: “Biological Resources” and “Nature Recreation”; – Doctoral study programme “Philology” will be created by consolidating the DSP “Linguistics” and DSP “Literary Studies” to prepare literary scholars and linguists to solve current problems in contemporary philology and to present Latvian science at the European and global level.
