Project implementation time: 2021-2023

Introduction

One of the most important matters in ecology is the processes of understanding in time and space, which determine biological diversity maintenance.  There is still a lack of knowledge about the formation of species communities and ecosystem changes after disturbance. Our study will form a new approach to ecology, where both population and community-level studies are combined to provide new knowledge about the processes that determine the structure and successional patterns of cryptogam communities in time and space with the help of model species of bryophytes and lichens in deciduous forests.

Aim of study

Characterizing spatial and successional patterns of bryophytes and lichens depending on age chronosequence of deciduous forests.

Sub-projects

Bryophyte and lichen inventarization in deciduous forests

Transplantation experiments

Model species spatial structure of bryophytes and lichens

Genetic structure and diversity of model species

Cooperation
