Project summary:

Aim of the project – to strengthen the capacity of Daugavpils University academic staff by involving foreign academic staff, doctoral students and candidates for scientific degrees in the work and by improving the competence of DU academic staff.
Main activities of the project:
1. Involvement of doctoral students or candidates for scientific degrees in academic work at Daugavpils University in the study programmes “Life Sciences,” “Language and Culture Studies, Native Language Studies and Language Programmes,” “Healthcare” and “Economics”, providing for the employment conditions of selected academic staff.
2. Employment of foreign academic staff as teaching staff at Daugavpils University in the study programmes “Life Sciences”, “Language and Culture Studies, Native Language Studies and Language Programmes”, “Health Care” and “Economics”.
3. Academic staff development measures in the study programmes “Life Sciences,” “Language and Culture Studies, Native Language Studies and Language Programs,” “Health Care,” and “Economics.”
4. Project management and implementation.
5. Information and publicity activities.

Planned project results:

1. 16 doctoral students or candidates for scientific degrees are involved in academic work;
2. 16 foreign academic staff members are involved as teaching staff;
3. Three selected academic staff competence development activities have been implemented:
3.1. Internships at educational institutions for at least 200 hours in accordance with the development plan for selected academic staff (64 peeople);
3.2. Professional English language training (60 peeople);
3.3. Specialized training to develop the leadership and industry cooperation skills of academic staff (76 people).
