Admission requirements

1. Secondary education.

2. Positive assessment in centralized exams in Latvian, mathematics and first foreign language.

3. The average yearly mark in the major school subjects in the secondary education certificate is not lower than 7 points, except if the CE in the subject has been successfully passed:

  • Teacher of Computing – yearly mark in Computer Science or Informatics, or Digital Design, or Robotics, or Programming.
  • Teacher of Mathematics – yearly mark in mathematics (or average mark in Algebra and Geometry).
  • Teacher of Design and Technologies – yearly mark in Home Economics or Visual Arts or Computer Science.
  • Teacher of Social Sciences and History – yearly mark in History of Latvia and World History or social sciences and history.
  • Teacher of Health and Physical Activity– yearly mark in Sports or Sports and Health.
  • Teacher of Music – yearly mark in Music or Culture and Arts (Music).
  • Teacher of English – yearly mark in English.
  • Teacher of Natural Sciences (teacher of Biology or Physics, or Geography, or Chemistry) – yearly mark in Biology or Physics, or Geography, or Chemistry.
  • Teacher of Latvian Language and Literature – yearly mark in Latvian Language and Literature.

Aim

To provide professional bachelor’s studies in teacher education, promoting the development of teacher’s general and professional competence in accordance with the occupational standard “Teacher” in the fields of study chosen by the student.

Competence

Educational sciences – branch-related courses incl. social-emotional learning; planning, management and evaluation of teaching, offering the teacher an interdisciplinary vision in the didactics of each field of studies; classroom management; inclusive and special education, work environment.

Teaching practices, which are divided into 5 parts, each part focusing on the performance of the basic tasks and responsibilities of the standard professional activity of the teaching profession.
