Abstract

Four new species of the tribe Pachyrhynchini, genera Pachyrhynchus Germar, 1824 and Metapocyrtus Heller, 1912 has been described and illustrated from Gabaldon and Quezon province, Southern Luzon Island: Pachyrhynchus pseudorukmaneae sp. nov., Pachyrhynchus chrysocyaneus sp. nov., Metapocyrtus pseudojaysoni sp. nov. and Metapocyrtus biflavus sp. nov. A diagnosis of each taxon is provided. Habitus photographs and illustrations of male genitalia for these taxa are also included. The similarities in body pattern among Pachyrhynchus and Metapocyrtus species inhabiting Quezon and Marinduque suggest an evolutionary dispersal pathway from the Sierra Madre through Quezon to Marinduque, highlighting biogeographic and adaptive links within this beetle lineage.

Keywords: Coleoptera, Pachyrhynchus, Metapocyrtus, taxonomy, Philippines, Quezon.
