The OpenEU Alliance has launched a new initiative — the “Think and Do Tank Podcast”, aimed at fostering discussion on the future of higher education in the context of digital transformation and its impact on teaching and learning processes across European universities.

The first episode of the podcast explores how digital transformation is truly reshaping European higher education and whether education systems are able to keep pace with rapid technological change. It also raises the broader question of whether higher education is undergoing genuine transformation or merely digitising existing practices.

The episode features Prof. Dr. Paquita Pérez Salgado (Open Universiteit) and Prof. Wim Van Petegem (KU Leuven), and is hosted by Haline Maia (Universidade Aberta). The discussion focuses on topics such as the ethical use of artificial intelligence in higher education, virtual mobility, the promotion of cultural diversity, and institutional conditions for implementing digital innovation.

The “Think and Do Tank Podcast” is designed as a platform for exchanging ideas among European higher education institutions in order to jointly explore solutions for developing a more inclusive, flexible, and sustainable education system.

OpenEU, the pan-European open university, brings together eight leading European open and distance universities and two on-campus universities engaged in digital transformation to become the European Universities Initiative’s main asset for accessing, using, and exploring digital education knowledge and knowhow in the EHEA.
