On October 8, 2026, Daugavpils University (DU) hosted a TECHSIGHT project knowledge exchange event in the ICT sector, during which participants discussed trends in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector, future technologies, and the skills needed in the labor market.

A total of 81 participants attended the event. Representatives from the companies Regula Baltija, Entrypoint, Binitex, and TestDevLab also took part in the discussions, providing a detailed overview of current industry trends and employer expectations.

During the event, participants addressed issues related to development trends in the ICT sector and technologies that could play a significant role in the sector in the future. They also discussed the hard skills and soft skills—including social and emotional skills—that future employees will need, as well as the extent to which current higher education offerings meet the sector’s needs.

The knowledge exchange with industry representatives provided an opportunity to assess the link between higher education and the labor market, as well as to highlight issues regarding the development of curriculum content and student competencies in line with technological advancements.

The event took place as part of the TECHSIGHT project. The project aims to strengthen the ability of higher education institutions to forecast technological developments, promote deep tech innovation and entrepreneurship, and foster collaboration among universities, companies, and other stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.
