On March 20, 2026, the Daugavpils University (DU) Doctoral School organized an international webinar titled “AI-Powered Research Skills and Academic Writing.” The session was led by Dr. Ümit Yakar, a lecturer from İnönü University (Türkiye) and Doctor of Educational Sciences, who brings over ten years of expertise in educational technology.
During the webinar, Dr. Yakar provided an in-depth look into the ethical and effective integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within research processes. Participants were introduced to specialized tools for semantic literature searching, automated synthesis of academic publications, and advanced methods for enhancing writing quality. Positioning AI as a high-level research assistant, Dr. Yakar emphasized the critical importance of data verification, academic integrity, and the preservation of individual authorship.

The event attracted a broad audience of nearly 200 participants, including doctoral students from various disciplines at DU, academic and administrative staff, as well as partners from the Open EU project and other international initiatives.
The DU Doctoral School continues to host scientific seminars aimed at strengthening the competencies of early-career researchers, fostering scientific excellence, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
