On February 26, 2025, representatives from Eqrem Çabej University of Albania visited Daugavpils University (DU) on an official visit to explore collaboration in higher education and research.
The delegation from Eqrem Çabej University included Rector Professor Dr. Jaho Cana, Associate Professor Merita Isaraj, Vice-Rector for International Relations and Scientific Research, Dr. Robert Çela, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and MSc. Irma Gjolleshi, Head of the Department of International Relations and Scientific Research.
During the meeting, DU Rector Professor Arvīds Barševskis and Rector of Eqrem Çabej University Professor Dr. Jaho Cana signed a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing academic excellence and promoting research collaboration at an international level. The agreement encompasses several key areas, including student exchange at all study levels (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs), visiting lecturers and researcher mobility, as well as joint scientific projects and educational initiatives. It also provides for the exchange and development of information and teaching materials, as well as the organization of joint seminars, workshops, and conferences, enriching the educational offerings and international research potential of both universities.
During the discussions, the possibility of establishing joint study programs was also explored, focusing on international competitiveness and student mobility. Special attention was given to the fields of pedagogy, natural sciences, history, and information technology, as well as interdisciplinary programs that combine modern teaching methods and innovative approaches tailored to international standards in science and academia.
The agreement also includes both universities’ participation in the Erasmus+ 2027 program, which strengthens the capacity of higher education by supporting innovation and academic excellence.
Following the official part, the delegation participated in a guided tour of the laboratories at the Institute of Life Sciences and Technology, where they were acquainted with the advanced research equipment and ongoing scientific projects. Subsequently, they visited the Rothko Museum.
