  • promote the exchange of knowledge and pedagogical experience between higher education institutions in European countries;
  • strengthen and further develop cooperation between higher education institutions;
  • motivate students and staff to participate in mobility activities and support their preparation for the mobility period.

Given that environmental sustainability and climate action are one of the key priorities of the Erasmus+ programme, supporting the development of knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to climate change and sustainable development, DU encourages all participants to use “green travel”, i.e. environmentally friendly means of transport to reach their destination.

Travel support (including green travel support) is calculated in accordance with the distance calculator.

The travel grant is intended to cover round-trip travel costs.

Green travel modes include train, bus, and carpooling (at least two people travelling in one car).

Green travel support may be granted only if the majority of the journey is completed using environmentally friendly transport.

Green travel support cannot be granted if environmentally friendly transport is used only in one direction (e. g., going to the country of mobility by bus but returning by airplane).

Staff mobility participants who use green travel methods may be granted up to four additional days of individual support, if required for travel purposes.
