At the teachers’ experience-sharing forum “Inspiration. Innovation. Growth.”, held on 10 March 2026 at Daugavpils Technology Secondary School-Lyceum, Dr Mārīte Kravale-Pauliņa, a leading researcher at Daugavpils University and Head of the study field Education and Pedagogy, introduced the Horizon Europe project “CLiViE” (Cultural Literacies’ Value in Europe). The forum brought together more than 260 education professionals, including teachers from general and vocational schools across Daugavpils and the wider Latgale region, as well as school leaders, sector experts, and project partners.

In her presentation, Dr Kravale-Pauliņa outlined the project’s central aim: to deepen understanding of the value of cultural literacy in Europe by identifying its social and economic benefits, while also supporting the development of young people’s cultural literacy to foster empathy, critical thinking, and social cohesion. The project involves 13 partner organisations, including universities, cultural education associations, and youth organisations, working together to develop innovative approaches to education.

Particular attention was given to outcomes directly relevant to educators. These include 28 case studies on cultural literacy, a range of academic publications, and practical tools for assessing its value, which will be made available to professionals in the cultural sector by mid-2026. Participants also learned about a series of methodological workshops planned for autumn 2026, where teachers will be able to explore these tools in greater depth and consider their practical application.

Dr Kravale-Pauliņa’s presentation highlighted the important role of Daugavpils University in advancing educational innovation. It also underscored the potential of the Horizon Europe project “CLiViE” to strengthen and expand collaboration with the cultural and cultural education sectors. By combining case study research with the development of practical assessment tools, the project opens up new opportunities for research-informed collaboration and knowledge exchange.
