In September 2026, graduates of the academic bachelor and master study programmes “History” received awards in studies of Latvian history from the Latvian Academic Organization in Sweden for their bachelor’s and master’s theses. Both studies are dedicated to the history of Latvia of the 20th century.

Baiba Lagzdiņa was awarded for her Bachelor’s thesis “Firefighting Operations in Latvia (1944–1991)”, and Laima Grišule received the award for her Master’s thesis “The Beginning of Sovietization of General Education, Latvian SSR (1940–1941)”.

We congratulate the young researchers and their supervisor, professor Irēna Saleniece!

We thank all our fellow teachers of the “History” study programme!
