DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

The study field “Teacher of Sport and Social Sciences” of the professional bachelor study programme “Teacher”;
Organizes and manages sports events of various types and levels at Daugavpils University and in the Republic of Latvia;
Ensures the activity of Daugavpils University sports sections;
Promotes scientific research activities in the field of sports science in cooperation with other universities and institutions in Latvia and abroad;
Promotes sport and healthy lifestyle;
Promotes participation of representatives and teams of Daugavpils University in various sports in the Universiade of the Republic of Latvia and international competitions:

World and European championships and tournaments: basketball, football, volleyball, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, athletics, karate, wrestling, swimming, trophy raid, etc.

Baltic Championships: volleyball SCHENKER League Championship, basketball Latvian-Lithuanian Border League Championship, Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship, Baltic Karate Championship, etc.

Latvian championships and Latvian Olympic Games: Latvian Young Women’s Basketball League, Latvian Karate Championship, Latvian Frisbee Championship, etc.

Latvian University Universiades: swimming, volleyball, basketball, frisbee, freestyle wrestling, aesthetic gymnastics, weightlifting, etc.

Daugavpils and other Latvian cities competitions: Daugavpils City Championship in volleyball and basketball, Daugavpils Karate Championship, etc.
