THE GOALS OF STUDY MOBILITY:
Study duration:
Long-term mobility : 2 – 12 months
Short-term mobility : 5 – 30 days (short-term student mobility must be combined with a virtual mobility period)
If a student is participating in short-term mobility, the physical mobility period must be combined with the virtual mobility period and the student will receive at least 3 ECTS for this mobility period.
Erasmus+ studies are based on inter-institutional agreements, so check the list of partner universities in advance and choose the most suitable host university for you.
Students who have previously participated in study or internship mobility at the same study level and have received an Erasmus+ grant may participate in the mobility again, provided that the total duration does not exceed 12 months per study level.
Studying at a foreign partner university under Erasmus+ is free of charge.
Students participating in the Erasmus+ programme receive financial support (a grant) to cover living expenses, including travel and insurance costs.

All students receive financial support for travel. The amount is calculated using the European Commission distance calculator.
If, according to the European Commission distance calculator, the distance between the sending and receiving institutions is up to 500 km, then travel should be carried out using a low-emission or environmentally friendly mode of transport.
Green travel modes include train, bus, and carpooling (at least two people travelling in one car).
Green travel support may be granted only if the majority of the journey is completed using environmentally friendly transport.
Green travel support cannot be granted if environmentally friendly transport is used only in one direction (e. g., going to the country of mobility by bus but returning by airplane).
| Travel Distance | Amount for standard travel (standard travel, EUR) | Amount for green travel (green travel, EUR) |
| 10-99 km | 28,00 EUR | 56,00 EUR |

In line with the principles of the Higher Education Charter, study mobility ensures equal opportunities, fair access, inclusion, and diversity regardless of the student’s background. Traineeship mobility is open to a wide range of participants, including those with fewer opportunities, such as people with disabilities (physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments, which, in interaction with various barriers, may limit full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others), health issues (health conditions, including serious illnesses, chronic conditions, or any physical or mental health situation that prevents participation in the programme), barriers related to education and training systems, cultural differences, social barriers, economic barriers, barriers related to discrimination, and geographical barriers.
Erasmus+ Programme Inclusion Support (for individuals with limited opportunities) may be granted to long-term or short-term study mobility participants who meet one or more of the following criteria:
For the autumn semester – apply by March 15.
For the spring semester – apply by September 15.
Students must complete the study mobility application online at – https://exchange.du.lv/
Submitted applications are registered and sent to the student’s faculty council, where the student’s participation in the Erasmus+ programme is reviewed. Then it can be approved, or rejected. If the student is approved for studies abroad, the DU Erasmus+ coordinator nominates the student to the foreign partner university. The host (partner) university then contacts the student directly and provides information about the application procedure and required documents. After submitting all required documents to the host university, the student will receive an Acceptance Letter confirming admission to studies at the partner university.
Once the Acceptance Letter has been received, the student must forward it to the Erasmus+ coordinator by email:
erasmus@du.lv
Each foreign university has its own application procedure and required documents for registration for exchange studies.
Important: It is crucial to follow the application deadline set by the host university and submit all documents on time.
Most host universities require the following documents:
Learning Agreement (Online Learning Agreement)
This document is filled out by the student on the online platform https://learning-agreement.eu/. Students log in to the platform using their DUIS login username and password. Instructions on how to complete and submit the Online Learning Agreement are available here.
Once the student has received approval from their faculty, the programme coordinator regularly organises informational webinars or in-person meetings to inform students about the next steps and help them prepare successfully for their study period abroad.
The student must have:

The student receives a Confirmation of Stay from the host university coordinator and, upon returning to Latvia, submits it to the programme coordinator or sends a scanned copy to erasmus@du.lv.
After the end of the mobility period and within 30 calendar days of receiving the invitation by email, the student must:
