Summary of the project |
The project consortium involves six Latvian higher education institutions and two commercial companies, with a total of eight partners who have agreed on common goals and areas of cooperation in the implementation of digital initiatives and the strengthening of digital competences. The lead partner of the consortium or partnership is the Latvia University of Life ciences and Technologies, which brings together the other seven partners: Rezekne Academy of Technologies, Daugavpils University, University of Latvia, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences, Turiba University, “WeAreDots LTd.” (hereinafter referred to as DOTS) and JSC “Baltijas Datoru akadēmija” (hereinafter referred to as BDA), as well as the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies Agency “Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies Malnava College”, which is involved in several project activities. The unifying factor in the project is the introduction of digital initiatives in the strategic specialisation areas of each higher education institution. The strategic areas are regulated by Article 3 of the Higher Education Law and the draft Cabinet of Ministers Regulation “On the Strategic Specialisation of State Higher Education Institutions”. The aim of the project is to strengthen digital capacity and implement digital initiatives in six Latvian higher education institutions in their strategic areas of specialization by integrating technological solutions into the content and process of study courses. The project will strengthen students’ digital competences, strengthen capacity in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning, develop and implement a unified digital competence assessment system, and a unified digital solution for the examination process will be created. During the project, through digitalization initiatives, it is planned to strengthen the existing level 5 in all areas of digital competence and move towards achieving level 6 competence for all students studying at the consortium’s universities in strategic specialization areas. The project activities are: 1) Strengthening digital capacity in new and existing study courses; 2) Developing and integrating a digital skills assessment system in higher education institutions; 3) Integrating the latest existing digital solutions into the e-learning process; 4) Project management and publicity. |
