On 25 and 26 January 2024, three representatives of IHSS attended the conference “January Papers” organized by Daugavpils University.
At the conference plenary session Dr. hist., asoc. prof. Henrihs Soms presented the paper “The Role of Historical Informatics in Latgale Research: 30 Years of Experience of the database “Latgales dati”. In the conference working group “History: Sources and People”, H. Soms presented the study “Renaming Streets in Daugavpils 100 Years Ago (1924)”.
The member of the Scientific Committee of the Conference and the editor the collection of articles “History: Sources and People” Dr. hist., prof. Irena Saleniece presented the paper “Documents of Latgale and Selia in the Vatican Apostolic Archive”.
Ph. D., researcher, docent Maija Grizāne presented the study supported by the Stiftelsen till minne av Lena Neuland titled “Sovietisation of Latgale and First decade of operation of the Club of Militant Atheists of the Daugavpils Pedagogical Institute (1959-1969)”.
Students of the Doctoral study programme “History and Archaeology” in volved in the project “Navigating the Latvian History of the 20th – 21st Century: Social Morphogenesis, Legacy and Challenges” (VPP-IZM-Vēsture-2023/1-0003) presented their papers, too. Sergejs Kuzmins presented the study “Recruitment and Salaries of the Workers of the Daugavpils Factory “Elektroinstruments” in Archival Documents (1949-1959)” (scientific adviser asoc. prof. H. Soms); Haralds Bruņinieks introduced the study “The Evidence of Material Sources on National Partisans in Elkšņu Forest of Jekabpils County (28.07.1948)” (scientific adviser prof. I. Saleniece).
