On 17–26 October 2023, Dr. philol. Ilze Kačāne, a senior researcher at the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, visited Zhejiang University and Hangzhou University in Hangzhou and Guangdong University in Guangzhou (China) where through multiple experience exchange activities she mastered her professional skills and improved her qualifications. During her stay in China, Dr. philol. I. Kačāne met with Professor Gexin Yang, Director of Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies of World Literature at Zhejiang University, the leadership, academic staff and students of the Baltic Studies Centre of the School of International Education at Hangzhou University, the leadership of the Institute of Foreign Literature and Culture at Guangdong University, as well as participated in inspiring roundtable discussions and led lectures for master and doctoral study programme students in literary and cultural studies. The international exchange was the result of long-term scientific contacts, which outlined broader prospects for future cooperation in literary studies and interdisciplinary studies. The trip was implemented within the framework of the DU research project “Memory Representations: Literary and Cultural-Historical Aspects” (No. 14-95/2023/15) and the Zhejiang University programme “Mutual Learning from Civilizations and Interdisciplinary Studies of Literature”. Zhejiang University ranks third in the “THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2022” compiled by one of the world’s most prestigious university ranking agencies “Times Higher Education” (THE).
