The aim of the professional bachelor’s study programme is

to provide students with a broad and comprehensive practice-based theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of business and finance, as well as to provide in-depth foreign language learning opportunities in order to meet specific professional standards (financier – PS 117 and economist – PS-113) and the knowledge basis and professional competence corresponding to professional higher education of the second level.

Knowledge

  • Knows and understands the most current economic theories, regularities of economic development, processes taking place in the economic environment and their impact on the company’s operations, is able to explain them, including inter-sectoral and inter-regional aspect.
  • Knows and understands the legal framework of business, ethical norms and principles of sustainability specific to the profession of financier and business manager.
  • Understands the theoretical, normative and methodological basis and interdisciplinary connection of management and other related sciences, business environment and process management context and trends in Latvia, Europe and the world.

Skills

  • Is able to independently select and analyze theoretical information sources according to professional needs (perform management or financial process analysis), using the latest information and communication technologies.
  • Is able to use modern theory, fundamental concepts, methods, tools and digital solutions for solving business tasks in the field of financial and management process management (including to ensure the efficient operation of the company).
  • Able to produce reports, publications and presentations on research results in the industry, evaluate the obtained information and use it in accordance with the set goal (corporate governance), discuss and explain aspects of their professional activities, cooperating with various stakeholders, following ethical norms and using a scientific approach.

Competences

  • Demonstrates adaptation to new situations, openness to change, readiness to act and the ability to make decisions in changing conditions.
  • Able to argue, independently acquire new knowledge, analyze, systematize, integrate and critically evaluate challenges related to professional work, take initiative and responsibility for business processes, management, taking into account the interdisciplinary context and based on the latest achievements in economic theory and practice.
  • Able to identify and critically analyze the challenges of the company, make and justify decisions to address them.
  • Able to take responsibility, operate and lead a team, delegate and coordinate the performance of duties, effectively plan and organize their work and constantly improve professional competence and specialization, cooperate with stakeholders in the local, interregional environment.
