Admission requirements

  • First cycle higher education in business and administration, management, economics, finance, organizational security, internal security and civil defence, policing or law, or equivalent education. Entrance test.
  • For studies in English – knowledge of the English language at least at B2 level.

The common aim

To prepare a Master of Economic Security with cultivated analytical abilities and critical thinking that uses scientific methods and other forms of cognition to solve various theoretical and practical situations and problems in the prevention, detection and investigation of economic crimes, as well as to develop science and research in the field of economic security.

Tasks of the study programme

  1. To promote research activity in the field of economic security, using theoretical foundations and skills acquired, independently acquiring, selecting, analysing and critically evaluating information, identifying challenges and offering possible solutions.
  2. To provide students with basic and specialised knowledge in the field of economic security, to clarify the key concepts and regularities of the professional field.
  3. To ensure the acquisition by students of the professional skills in the field of economic security.
  4. To develop the skills of students to develop themselves also after mastering of the study programme for their further upskilling.
  5. To develop decision-making skills in difficult situations and problem-solving skills in matters of economic security.
  6. To provide knowledge and skills in the management of personnel, develop skills to explain and discuss matters of competence in the field of economic security with both specialists and subordinates.
  7. To provide students with placement in institutions operating in the field of economic security.
  8. To provide opportunities for placement, within the framework of which students take decisions, take responsibility and initiative, perform work individually, in a team or manage the work of other people and find solutions in changing or unclear circumstances, increased stress and complex official situation, acting quickly in situations of increased danger.
  9. To develop the ability to independently structure their further learning and professional development and that of their subordinate employees by participating in the development of the professional field.
  10. To provide theoretical and practical knowledge in matters of economic security, highlighting new trends in the field concerned.

As a result of the programme’s acquisition, the graduate will acquire and be able to demonstrate

Knowledge:

  • Able to demonstrate in-depth and expanded knowledge and understanding of research in the field of economic security, consistent with the latest findings of the industry, which, among other things, help predict and eliminate risks, as well as identify signs of illegal financial transactions.

Skills:

  • Creatively and constructively able to analyze and evaluate socio-economic legal processes, debate and experiment about the achieved result, basing their opinion on scientific research data, create creative solutions in the detection, prevention and investigation of economic crimes at the institutional, national and international level.
  • Able to critically evaluate the findings and methods of theory and practice in order to improve research in the field of economic security and offer original solutions to professional problems in the context of economic civil security, i.e. evaluating economic security systemically as a component of national civil security.
  • Able to define organizational tasks, develop work plans, generate ideas, organize work, determine the company’s financial and economic stability factors and identify areas for development, coordinate the cooperation of colleagues, thus creating competitive results in the field of economic security.
  • Able to independently follow innovations in the field of economic security and, based on an analytical and research approach, define and analyze problematic issues in the context of economic crimes, offer a summary of these problematic issues, providing solutions and innovations appropriate to the professional field.

Competencies:

  • Able to group, qualify and compare the knowledge of various fields, which allows to analyze current problem situations in the field of economic security in a broad comparative context and to offer a non-standard solution, applying and integrating them in practice, in the detection, prevention and investigation of relevant crimes.
  • Able to formulate and critically analyze the knowledge of various fields in the context of economic security, creating new knowledge that is applied within the framework of professional activity, solving problem issues and assuming responsibility in management matters.
  • Able to collect, compare and evaluate information regarding economic security and interdisciplinary fields in the context of the international and national professional environment in accordance with the specialization and independently choose the methodology for improving professional competence corresponding to the goal.
  • Able to work with scientific research databases, research and data analysis systems.
  • Develops an understanding of what economic security is both in the country and in the world as a whole, is able to solve problems and justify decisions, including preparing the necessary studies and using information and communication technologies to solve professional issues.
