The Doctoral School of Daugavpils University (DU) is a platform for the development of research competences, international cooperation, networking and scientific communication of doctoral students, doctoral degree applicants, post-doctoral researchers, scientists and academic staff, which provides research-based doctoral level education, doctoral students’ scientific activities and the obtainment of a scientific qualification for promoting internationally competitive intellectual potential and economic development.
Main functions of the DU Doctoral School:
1. Academic support: doctoral students are offered to attend classes once a month to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for their research work.
2. Mentoring and supervisor support: provides doctoral students with access to experienced thesis supervisors who help plan and conduct research. Each doctoral student receives individual support and advice from their supervisor, which promotes qualitative research work.
3. Research infrastructure: provides access to modern research infrastructure, which includes laboratories, databases, libraries and other resources necessary for conducting scientific research. Doctoral students can use these opportunities to carry out their research projects and experiments.
4. International cooperation and mobility: supports doctoral students’ involvement in international research projects and conferences, as well as offers mobility opportunities for doctoral students to be able to study and conduct research in other universities and research institutes abroad.
5. Scientific publications and research support: promotes the recognition of doctoral students’ scientific activities by providing support in the preparation and publication of publications, as well as participation in international scientific forums and conferences.
