The main objective of the project “European Researchers’ Night in Latvia 2020” No. 1.1.1.5/20/A/002 is to promote awareness of science among the society, especially young people, and to introduce the profession of a scientist to the public; to demonstrate the impact of sciences such as natural sciences, social sciences and humanities on everyday human life; to bring researchers closer to Latvian society and raise interest in research. The aim of the events is to promote the recognition of the researchers and their profession and show its role to the Latvian society. During European Researchers’ Night, several interesting and interactive events will be organised in Riga, Jelgava, Ventspils, Liepāja, Valmiera, Salaspils, Rēzekne and Daugavpils, covering the entire territory of Latvia. This year’s slogan: “Diversity of Science for the Future” conveys the message that scientific research is aimed at a better future and shows the diversity of the scientific field, from social sciences, humanities, medicine, physics, chemistry and biology to social sciences. The project will support the visibility of the research community, including the Horizon 2020 project, in particular the visibility of Marie Skłodowska-Curie activities and science in general.
