From May 12 to 16, 2025, Daugavpils University hosted the fifth International Erasmus+ Staff Training Week, bringing guests from DU’s partner universities worldwide. The event aimed to strengthen DU’s internationalization, promote international academic cooperation, foster cultural exchange and build sustainable contacts between higher education institutions across various countries.
Representatives from the following institutions took part this year:
The event was opened with welcome speeches by DU Rector Professor Arvīds Barševskis and Chairwoman of the Daugavpils City Council Committee for Education and Culture Līvija Jankovska. Continuing the tradition, an overview of DU’s activities were presented by Velta Trūle, Project Manager for International Students Recruitment from the International and Public Relations Office.

Throughout the week, a rich programme of activities took place, including interactive workshops, academic meetings in DU faculties and institutes, laboratory visits and experience-sharing discussions. Guests toured Daugavpils’ historic center with a guide, visited the Daugavpils Centre for Technical and Industrial Design “Engineers’ Arsenal” and on the final day, joined an excursion across the Latgale region. In the Aglona Bread Museum, they enjoyed the traditional Latvian cuisine and took part in a bread-baking workshop.
A significant achievement of the International Week was the signing of new cooperation agreements. For example, the Medical College after Mehrabyan from Armenia and the Khujand Polytechnic Institute from Tajikistan signed a memorandum of cooperation, confirming their commitment to strengthening academic collaboration in the future.
The International Erasmus+ Staff Week is just one of the initiatives that enhances Daugavpils University’s global visibility. The DU Erasmus+ Programme Department expresses a sincere gratitude to DU’s administration and the representatives of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Healthcare, the Institute of Life Sciences and Technologies and the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences for their active involvement in implementing the event and hosting international guests.
