Students of Daugavpils State Gymnasium visited the Institute of Life Sciences and Technology!

On November 27, students from the 9th B grade of Daugavpils State Gymnasium visited the Institute of Life Sciences and Technology at Daugavpils University with the goal of learning about study opportunities and the academic environment. The students were accompanied by their class teacher – Latvian language, literature, and theater arts teacher Ingrīda Kondratjeva, and career counselor Natālija Zabarovska.

The visitors were introduced to the study and research opportunities of various DU laboratories by the scientific staff of the Institute of Life Sciences and Technology:

  • Genomics and Biotechnology Laboratory: Department of Technology natural sciences laboratory assistant, BSc. biol. Aleksandra Mošenoka.
  • Molecular Biology and Genetics Laboratory: Department of Ecology professor, Dr. biol. Nataļja Škute.
  • Laser Technology Laboratory, Center for Innovative Microscopy (clean rooms), and the Hologram Exhibition: Doctoral student of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health Care (DVAF) in the “Solid-State Physics” program, 2nd-year student, MSc. phys. Jans Kevišs.
  • Astronomical Observatory: DVAF visiting professor and observatory director, Dr. phys. Antonijs Salītis.
