From May 19 to 20, Liene Briede, a researcher at the UNESCO Chair at Daugavpils University, participated in an international conference in Vienna (Austria), which took place within the framework of the project DCYDE! Digital Global Citizenship for Youngsters and Educators in Partnership. The project brings together 11 partners from European and Global South countries to promote the development and integration of digital global citizenship education in schools and youth communities. Latvia is represented in the project by the association “Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation” (LAPAS).

During the conference, 140 participants actively engaged in discussions on current topics: digital education, expanding opportunities for young people, innovative pedagogical approaches, as well as challenges posed by inequality, climate change, and migration. The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of teachers and educational institutions by developing hybrid learning environments and practical solutions for sustainable education.

During the conference, important contacts were made for expanding the UNESCO Chair network, strategies for improving the quality of teacher education, and ideas for new cooperation projects. The DCYDE! project is co-financed by the European Union’s programme DEAR (Development Education and Awareness Raising).
