On March 17-18, 2025, as part of the OpenEU project initiative, an expert from the Open University in the Netherlands Chris Kuijpers, Business Process Manager at Open Universiteit (Nederland), visited Daugavpils University. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the university’s facilities, study programmes, as well as to discuss the aim and opportunity of study digitalization processes, with the goal of further developing these processes within the OpenEU project framework.

The visit was marked by numerous meetings and discussions involving the university management, administrative staff, and students. These interactions provided a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of the university’s operations, studies, and infrastructure. Key topics addressed during the visit included: DU strategic planning and long-term goals; technological equipment, infrastructure, its potential and improvement possibilities; used pedagogical models and study methods, innovative approaches for study process development; necessary faculty training for professional development to support faculty in adapting to digital tools and platforms, existing digital academic and administrative services, their availability, effectiveness and quality; study quality control in online studies; currently used communication and marketing strategies and the improvement of communication channels; challenges of digital higher education and their possible solutions.

The expert’s insights and recommendations will play a significant role in enhancing the digital transformation of Daugavpils University in frames of OpenEU project. This visit not only strengthened the collaboration between Daugavpils University and the Open University, Netherlands, but also laid the groundwork for future initiatives aimed at advancing the quality of educational offer and administrative efficiency.
