On May 16, 2025, the online seminar “Migrants and Refugees” took place, organized by Daugavpils University as part of the international OpenEU project. The event brought together participants from various countries and offered a multifaceted perspective on issues related to migration and refugees, highlighting the topic in both academic and practical contexts.

During the seminar, presentations were delivered by OpenEU alliance partners from Bifröst University (Iceland), the Open University of Catalonia (Spain), and the National University of Distance Education (Spain), as well as by representatives from the Latvian Society Integration and Inclusion agency and a doctoral student from Daugavpils University, who is a Finnish citizen. Each presentation emphasized different aspects of migration processes and refugee integration experiences in the respective countries, providing a valuable opportunity to compare approaches and challenges on an international scale.

The seminar served as a platform for active discussions and exchange of ideas on migration policy, public attitudes, and integration mechanisms in different countries. Participants recognized the event as a meaningful experience that encouraged reflection and inspired future initiatives and cooperation in this field.

Daugavpils University extends its sincere thanks to all speakers and participants for their engagement and looks forward to continued productive collaboration within the project framework.
