A new scientific article co-authored by Dr. Milton Norman D. Medina and Mr. Jhonnel P. Villegas of Davao Oriental State University, Prof. Arvīds Barševskis of Daugavpils University, and Dr. Francesco Vitali of the Luxembourg Museum of Natural History has been published in Zootaxa. The publication presents the description of a newly identified species of flat-faced longhorn beetle – Choeromorpha luzonensis.
The paper, entitled “Catalog of the genus Choeromorpha Chevrolat, 1849 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lamiinae) in the Philippines with description of a new species from Luzon Island,” provides the first comprehensive catalog of the genus Choeromorpha in the Philippines and includes the formal description of C. luzonensis, named after Luzon, the country’s largest island. This discovery highlights the remarkable biodiversity of the Philippine archipelago and contributes valuable knowledge to the field of entomology.
