The Nature Research and Environmental Education Centre of Daugavpils University, in close collaboration with the Institute of Life Sciences and Technologies, has published a comprehensive and user-friendly manual on invasive species. The publication was developed within the framework of the project “Development of a Manual for the Recognition of Invasive Species” (Project Registration No. 1-08/54/2022), funded by the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund.
Designed for use in field conditions, the manual serves as a practical guide for both professionals involved in the monitoring and management of invasive species, and for nature enthusiasts and other interested individuals. By enhancing their species recognition skills, users of the manual will be better equipped to contribute to the early detection and control of invasive species.
The publication features concise descriptions of invasive plant and animal species, with an emphasis on key identification features. These are complemented by high-quality images and illustrations, making the guide accessible and informative.
This manual will serve as a valuable educational resource for students of biology and environmental science at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Health Care of Daugavpils University, as well as for professionals in various fields who encounter invasive species in their work.
