On January 16–17, 2026, Daugavpils University researchers Liene Briede and Inna Samuilika participated in the first meeting of the Erasmus+ project Dealing with Data in School (Project No. KA220MV2536355732) in Greifswald, Germany. The project aims to introduce an innovative approach to data literacy in schools, with a primary focus on STEAM subjects.

The project brings together researchers from Daugavpils University, the University of Greifswald (Germany), and the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (Czech Republic). At the first partner meeting, the lead institution – the University of Greifswald presented the project’s methodology and work packages, and outlined the specific responsibilities of each partner. The meeting marked the start of collaborative work to strengthen students’ data literacy and critical thinking.

The rapid growth of data and ongoing technological advances, particularly in artificial intelligence, are creating new demands on educational content. Within the project, a scientific framework for researching data literacy in educational settings will be developed, alongside research-based teaching materials.
