From May 12 – 16 Daugavpils University hosted Blended Intensive Programme “Multiprofessional team work caring of diabetes melletitus patient” project No. 2023-1-LV01-KA131-HED-000122889-2.
On May 7, project participants attended an online introductory lecture on nutritional options for patients with diabetes, led by nutritionist Vera Griņova.
18 students from University of Split (Croatia), University of Klaipeda (Lithuania), John Paul II University in Biala Podlaska (Poland) and WSG University (Poland) participated in the programme.
The aim of the project was to introduce future healthcare students to the work of a multidisciplinary team in the care of patients with diabetes.
During the week, foreign students participated in several lectures and master classes led by specialists in various fields: endocrinology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, general care, rehabilitation, as well as psychology and podiatry.
As part of the programme, foreign students visited Daugavpils Psychoneurological Hospital and Daugavpils Regional Hospital’s Emergency and Rehabilitation Department.
At the end of the week, students presented case studies, developing a multi-professional teamwork plan using the knowledge they had gained during the week.
The Blended intensive programme was developed and implemented by Liene Lukjaņanko, acting Head of the Department of Healthcare at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Healthcare, and Anna Rubika, associate professor at the Department of Healthcare.
