On September 5, 2025 Daugavpils University International and Public Relations Office warmly welcomed its newest cohort of full-time international students during an Online Welcome Day Event designed to introduce students to academic life, support services and the vibrant community that awaits them in Latvia’s second largest city Daugavpils .

The event was held remotely to ensure accessibility for students joining from around the world who have yet to arrive to Latvia. It was highlighted that Daugavpils University’s long-standing tradition of fostering cultural diversity and academic excellence, while also emphasizing the importance of international exchange in enriching campus life.

Students were introduced to a wide range of resources, including academic support services, student organizations, and cultural activities. The International and Public Relations Office provided practical information on temporary residence permits, healthcare, integration into the Latvian society, public transportation, safety issues, emergency services, as well as where and how to spend their free time, etc.

In addition to the informative sessions, the Online Welcome Day Event featured interactive activities that allowed students to meet peers from across the globe, building the first connections of what promises to be a diverse and supportive community. Students that are already living in Daugavpils shared their experience and gave advice to newcomers.

The event concluded with an invitation to take part in upcoming orientation activities, campus tours, and cultural events that will further help international students feel at home.
