On 18 – 20 August 2024 within the project of Baltic Studies Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (Seoul, South Korea) professors ong Wansuk, Ra Seungdo, Seo Jinseok, and Kim Bongchul visited DU IHSS. During the visit there was organized the seminar “De-Sovietization Process of Latgale Region”. Participants of the seminar had sight-seeing tours in Daugavpils un Rezekne and got acquainted the post-Soviet heritage and local cultural traditions.

On 19 August there was a discussion about russification of Latgale region and current process of de-sovetization. IHSS researchers prof. Irena Saleniece and doc. Maija Grizane, as well as the collection manager of Oral History Centre Laima Grišule presented their papers about the discussed issues. After the seminar the participants were welcomed by the head of the Daugavpils Russian Cultural Centre Nataļja Kožanova.

The seminar was organized by IHSS leading researcher, prof. Anita Stašulāne, researcher Maija Grizāne and researcher Andris Uškāns.
