Participation in the International Scientific Conference in Krakow

On 30-31 March 2023, the Jesuit University Ignatianum in Krakow (Poland) hosted the International Scientific Conference “Transformations: Time in Culture, Literature and Language”, which was organised by the Institute of Modern Languages of the Faculty of Education. Scholars from Poland, Ukraine, Italy, Germany and Latvia presented papers on the theme of synchronic, diachronic, and (a)temporal transformations within the fields of literary, linguistic, and culture studies and engaged in active discussions on such topics as theoretical conceptualisations of transformation and/within time; progress, regress, evolution, and revolution in history, literature, philosophy, and the educational sciences; transformation across fields: film, visual arts, and digital media; caesuras and continuities in language, literature, and culture; semantics of transformation as applied in linguistic and literary studies; transformative changes in genres, modes, and other typologies; narrative transformations (narrative patterns, plot structures etc.); (trans)formations of the human: nature and nurture; post-anthropocentric transformations etc.

Dr. philol. Ilze Kačāne, Daugavpils University Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences senior researcher participated in the conference with a presentation “Transformation through Paradox at a Time of Transition: Oscar Wilde’s Novel ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’”.  I. Kačānes participation in the conference took place in the framework of Daugavpils University research project “Memory Representations: Literary and Cultural-Historical Aspect” (No 14-95/2023/15).
