On October 20-21, 2025, in the frames of the project “Subjectivities of Owning Land: Land Redistribution and the Nation State in the Baltics Across the 20th Century”, which is realised by the University of Birmingham, the Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe, and the Martin Opitz Library, DU Oral History Centre hosted the international academic workshop „Writing a history of subjectivities in the Baltics”.
The researchers of the project study the influence of the land reforms on the development of society in the Baltics states during the 20th century. The project investigates the impact of land redistribution on the concepts of the self, families, communities and societies, and the way it shaped identities and loyalties.
The head of the Oral History Centre prof. Irēna Saleniece, researcher and assistant professor Maija Grizāne, and collection manager of the OHC Laima Grišule participated in the discussions and presented the collection of the Oral History Centre.
