On April 22, 2026, the Horizon Europe programme project “Cultural Literacies’ Value in Europe” (CLiViE) held an international academic conference “Art as an Agent of Change: Cultural Literacy for Societal Resilience” in Riga. The conference was organized by Riga Stradins University and brought together project partners from Lithuania, Finland, Poland, and the Czech Republic, as well as Latvian researchers specializing in cultural literacy. Daugavpils University, as a project partner, was represented by professor and lead researcher Anita Stašulāne.
During the conference, the results of the case study conducted in Daugavpils were presented in several papers. Grzegorz Maśloch and Kamil Flig from the Warsaw School of Economics (Poland) presented paper “Quantifying the Intangible: SROI Framework and Project Appraisal in Arts-Based Education – Lessons from CLiViE/Measuring the Social Value of Cultural Literacy: Applying Social Return on Investment (SROI) in Arts-Based Education in Latvia.” Anita Stašulāne presented the study “Promotion of Social Cohesion through Non-Formal Cultural Education: The Case Study in Daugavpils” developed in collaboration with Alina Romanovska and Irina Presņakova. Ilva Skulte presented the paper “Through Reflective Creative Practice to the Respect of Otherness: Applying Model of Theory of Change for the Art-Based Workshops in Daugavpils Rothko Museum” developed together with co-authors Mairita Folkmane and Alina Romanovska. The presentations and discussions during the conference confirm that the results of the case study conducted in Daugavpils are attention grabbing not only on a regional, but also on a European scale.
The activity was implemented within the framework of the Horizon Europe research project “Cultural Literacies’ Value in Europe” (CLiViE, Grant Agreement No. 101132285).
