On October 8, 2026, at Daugavpils University (DU), a TECHSIGHT project co-creation event focused on ICT took place, with the goal of discussing the needs of the information and communication technology (ICT) sector and exploring practical, sustainable opportunities for collaboration between higher education institutions and businesses.

Representatives from the companies Regula Baltija, Entrypoint, Binitex, and TestDevLab also participated in this TECHSIGHT project event. A total of 80 participants attended the event—including industry professionals, as well as DU students and staff.

During the collaborative co-creation discussions, participants addressed the development needs of the ICT sector and ways in which the university could contribute to the growth of businesses and the sector as a whole. Participants focused on the question of how to build realistic and sustainable cooperation between higher education and industry so that it would provide practical benefits to both sides.

Special attention was given to study and lifelong learning opportunities that would be relevant to representatives of the ICT sector, including distance learning. Participants discussed whether and how to improve existing study programs so that they better meet the sector’s actual needs, as well as what joint initiatives and projects companies would be willing to implement to advance their own organizations and the sector as a whole.

The co-creation event fostered dialogue between higher education institutions and companies, helping to identify potential areas of collaboration in improving study programs, developing professional competencies, and creating joint initiatives.

The event was organized as part of the TECHSIGHT project. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of European higher education institutions to develop deep tech innovations, promote entrepreneurship, and reinforce regional innovation ecosystems.

Daugavpils University would like to thank ICT lecturers Ieva Boļakova and Andris Vagalis for their active involvement in organizing the event and their contribution to its success.
