As part of the Horizon Europe programme project “Promoting Understanding and Lifelong Learning Successful Education through the ARTs and culture” (PULSE-ART), Daugavpils University (DU) is launching the DEJA (Dance) case study. Its aim is to create opportunities for inclusive participation, co-creation, and creative self-expression by applying the methodology developed within the project.
The dance storytelling workshop series for young people, “Daugavpils in Motion – Our City, Our Story,” will take place at Daugavpils University, 13 Vienības Street, on 26 September, 10 October, and 31 October 2026 (concert). In collaboration with Gļebs Beļajevs, lecturer at the Department of Arts at Daugavpils University and pianist, the workshops will be led by Jeļena Orbidāne, head of “Eféra Dance Studio”; Marita Irbe, director of the DU Student Dance Ensemble “Laima”; and Alise Mole, head of “Uniqsy Dance Studio”. The implementation of the case study involves the project’s collaborating partners: the institution “Vienības nams” of the Daugavpils Municipality, the association “Cita Daugavpils”, “Divruna”, “Kultūras Artefakts”, and VML “Robeža”. An arts-based education approach will give young people the opportunity to discover the history of their place of residence, explore its stories, and develop a sense of belonging to their city and country. It will be a creative and engaging process that fosters collaboration, respect, cultural understanding, and self-expression.
We invite you to explore the Professional Development Programme (PDP) developed within the PULSE-ART project, which is aimed at educators, cultural practitioners, and facilitators. The PDP has been designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to integrate the arts into the educational process, thereby fostering cultural understanding and expression. The programme is based on the understanding that art is not only the outcome of a creative process but can also be used as a pedagogical tool for reflection, dialogue, participation, and exploring identity and a sense of belonging. The PDP is structured into six interconnected modules, each following a coherent cycle: Explore – Experience – Reflect – Plan – Apply. The modules are available upon registration with the PULSE-ART Observatory.
