Within the framework of European Sustainable Development Week, on 29 September the Daugavpils University (DU) UNESCO Chair participated in the event “Architects of Change: Education for a Sustainable Future 2026” organised by the Eco Council of Latgale Industrial Technical School. The aim of the event was to promote young people’s and educators’ understanding of sustainable thinking and its importance in professional activity.
During the presentation, participants were introduced to current sustainability issues in Latvia and around the world, particularly emphasising that sustainable development is not only about achieving global goals – it begins with our daily choices and actions. Discussions and knowledge sharing helped highlight the importance of sustainability in both education and professional activity, linking academic knowledge with practical examples.
The involvement of the DU UNESCO Chair in such initiatives provides an opportunity to share the knowledge and experience accumulated at the university, while strengthening cooperation with vocational education institutions. Such cooperation promotes the integration of sustainable development principles into the educational process and fosters understanding of everyone’s role in building a sustainable future.
