Plurilingualism represents a fundamental paradigm shift from traditional language teaching to an integrated, asset-based view of communication and identity. Rather than keeping languages compartmentalised into rigid, separate “silos,” modern pedagogical approaches recognise that a speaker’s languages interconnect to form a single, dynamic communicative repertoire.
Within the framework of Work Package 2 (Cognitive and Linguistic Development of Young Learners), the TAPPEO project has organised an upcoming webinar titled Introduction to Multi-/Plurilingualism and Early Childhood Education.
The session will be delivered by Prof. Gunhild Tomter Alstad from the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences (INN University, Norway)—a core TAPPEO partner and lead beneficiary of WP2. During the webinar, Prof. Alstad will share key findings from WP2, explore essential pedagogical frameworks, and present actionable approaches for supporting linguistic diversity in early childhood education. Participants will discover evidence-based strategies to cultivate language-rich classroom environments, embrace translanguaging, and nurture plurilingual competence in early learners.
We warmly invite preschool and primary school teachers, teacher educators, researchers, pre-service students, and educational stakeholders from across Europe to participate in this interactive session.
