During your studies, you will acquire knowledge and skills in

fundamentals of electronics and materials science, engineering mathematics for electronics, C++ programming for robotic systems, theoretical foundations of electrical engineering and circuit theory, basics of algorithm design and programming, artificial intelligence, electronic product design and drafting, and other related topics, as well as a strong integration of theory and practice through cooperation with industry companies will be ensured.

The aim of the study programme

To prepare electronics specialists (EQF Level 5) for the labour market, who are able to design, assemble, test and document analogue, digital and embedded systems in accordance with safety requirements, standards and quality criteria, as well as work in teams, communicate with clients and continue their studies at the next level of education.

As a result of the programme’s acquisition, the graduate will acquire and be able to demonstrate

Knowledge:

  • Understands the physical foundations of electronics, the fundamental principles governing electrical and electronic processes, material properties and the operating principles of electronic components.
  • Has knowledge of the operating principles of electrical circuits, analogue and digital electronic devices, control systems and modern electronics technologies, including microcontroller systems, signal processing, photonics and power electronics solutions.
  • Has knowledge of the regulatory framework of the electronics industry, technical standards, safety requirements and basic quality assurance principles, including the application of ESD, IPC and IEC standards in professional practice.

Skills:

  • Is able to use laboratory and measurement equipment, perform electrical and electronic parameter measurements, interpret results and identify malfunctions in electronic systems.
  • Is able to design electronic circuits, develop printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, manufacture, test and improve electronic device prototypes.
  • Is able to develop software solutions for controlling electronic systems and data processing using programming languages and microcontroller development environments.

Competencies:

  • Is able to independently plan and perform professional engineering tasks in the field of electronics in accordance with regulatory and professional requirements.
  • Is able to prepare technical documentation, communicate professionally and present solutions with well-founded arguments using industry-specific terminology and documentation requirements.
  • Is able to integrate theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the development, testing and improvement of electronic devices and systems in various professional contexts.
  • The graduate is prepared to independently perform typical engineering tasks in the field of electronics.

Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates can

  • Become professional and competitive electronics specialists and work in electronics manufacturing companies, laboratories, service centres, as well as other companies involved in the development, testing, maintenance and repair of electronic equipment;
  • Continue their education in bachelor’s degree programmes at Latvian higher education institutions (depending on the chosen institution and study programme, apply for recognition of previously acquired study results and begin studies in later semesters).
