On July 3, 2026, professor, Dr. hist. Irēna Saleniece and assistant professor, researcher, PhD Maija Grizāne from Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of Daugavpils University led classes for the participants of the international summer school “Living Traditions: Latvia’s Intangible Cultural Heritage”.
I. Saleniece lectured on practical skills of organising an interview in the presentation “Oral History: Interviewing Soviet-Era Individuals – Challenges in Preparing Interview Questions”. In her turn, M. Grizāne presented a study carried out in co-authorship with IHSS senior researcher, Dr. philol. Oksana Kovzele, which was dedicated to the pre-war traditions of Latvian Old Believers: “The Old Believers’ Tradition of Bride Kidnapping in Latvia: Origins and Transformations”.
