From June 17 to 19, 2026, Daugavpils University (DU) had the pleasure of hosting a distinguished delegation of staff members from the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, Uzbekistan (SSIFL). The three-day visit was packed with productive discussions, academic networking, and cultural exchange, marking a significant step forward in international cooperation between the two institutions.

The visit commenced with an official meeting between the SSIFL delegation and the Rector and management of DU. Both parties engaged in constructive dialogues aimed at expanding institutional partnerships, exploring joint research opportunities, and developing future student and staff exchange programs.

Following the administrative meeting, the guests met with the staff of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. This session allowed educators and researchers from both universities to discuss various aspects of academic collaboration, curriculum development, and shared methodologies in language studies. A key highlight of the academic exchange was a dedicated roundtable meeting with the Dean of the Faculty, focusing on specific, actionable steps for future joint projects.

The timing of the visit allowed the delegation to experience one of the most celebratory moments in the academic year—the DU Graduation Ceremony. The guests had the unique opportunity to witness the graduation traditions and share in the joy of graduates.

To showcase DU’s modern infrastructure and research capabilities, the delegation was taken on an extensive tour of the university’s campuses and laboratories, highlighting DU’s commitment to innovation and high-level research.

Beyond the academic itinerary, the guests visited a historical gem where the guests explored the impressive 19th-century fortifications of Daugavpils Fortress. Moreover, guests had the chance to explore Mark Rothko Art Museum, where the delegation immersed themselves in world-class abstract expressionist art and learned about the legacy of the world-renowned artist born in Daugavpils.

This visit has not only reinforced the friendly relations between Daugavpils University and the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages but has also laid a solid foundation for future academic, scientific, and cultural synergy. DU looks forward to a fruitful partnership ahead!
