On May 7-8, 2026, the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences of Daugavpils University organized the international scientific conference “History: Sources and People”.
More than 50 speakers and listeners took part in the conference plenary session and 10 thematic sessions. A wide range of topics covered studies on the topical issues of archaeology, regional history, economic challenges, international relations, war events, religious studies and natural resources. All participants of the conference demonstrated the importance of historical sources analysis and raised the issue of personality in the history process.
Special event of the conference – an excursion trip on the retro tram during which visitors of the city became acquainted with the most important events in the history of Daugavpils.
In the closing discussion of the conference, all participants were invited to submit their papers in the collection of articles “History: Sources and People”. Previous Conference author publications available here.
