On 9–13 March 2026, Svetlana Polkovnikova and Inguna Teilāne, lecturers of the Department of Language and Literature of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Daugavpils University, participated in an Erasmus+ mobility at the Letonics Centre of Vytautas Magnus University. The activities of the Letonics Centre are closely connected with strengthening the idea of Latvistics and promoting academic and scientific cooperation between Lithuanian and Latvian higher education institutions.
During the visit, the lecturers conducted Latvian language classes for students of the Lithuanian Studies programme. During the classes, students had the opportunity not only to learn the Latvian language but also to become acquainted with Latvian culture and traditions. The classes were organised in an interactive and practical format, encouraging active participation and mutual communication. The students showed great interest in the Latvian language, particularly emphasising the similarities and differences between the Baltic languages. A discussion on the importance of cultural identity and the education systems of both countries was also organised during the meeting.

We express our gratitude to the Erasmus+ mobility programme for the excellent opportunity to share experience with foreign colleagues, to enhance our professional and cultural competence, and to strengthen cooperation with Vytautas Magnus University.
