About the Speaker:

Prof. Dzintra Iliško

Prof. Dzintra Iliško, a Professor at the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, Daugavpils University, will deliver the lecture. Prof. Iliško is the recipient of the DU “Scientist of the Year 2025” award (Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences) for her significant research in educational sciences and her outstanding contribution to international academic collaboration.

About the Lecture:

While inclusion has emerged as a central priority in higher education, its conceptualization and implementation often remain fragmented. This session will examine why inclusion is vital in academic spaces through an intersectionality perspective, emphasizing how overlapping social identities shape unequal experiences of access, participation, and success.

The lecture will feature examples from “Open EU” initiatives, which serve as valuable laboratories for experimenting with inclusive practices and cross-cultural dialogue. Participants will be introduced to a multi-level framework for advancing inclusion that integrates intersectional awareness with systemic innovation to foster more sustainable academic environments.
