On 9–10 March, Leonel Morgado from Universidade Aberta paid a working visit to Daugavpils University within the framework of the OpenEU project. The aim of the visit is to assess the level of digitalisation at Daugavpils University and to provide expert support for the further development of the digitalisation of the study process.

During the visit, the expert is becoming acquainted with the digital solutions used at the university for organising studies, the e-learning environment, as well as approaches to digital pedagogy in the study process. Meetings with representatives of the university’s management, academic, and administrative staff are also planned in order to discuss directions for digital development and identify opportunities for improving the study process.

The assessment and recommendations provided by the expert and his team will serve as an important contribution to the further development of the digitalisation strategy of Daugavpils University, promoting a modern, innovative, and student-centred learning environment. The visit also strengthens international cooperation among the partner universities of the OpenEU, fostering the exchange of experience and the transfer of best practices in the digitalisation of higher education.

The OpenEU alliance brings together several European higher education institutions with the aim of developing an open, inclusive, and digitally transformed higher education area in Europe. As a partner institution in the project, Daugavpils University actively participates in implementing joint initiatives aimed at strengthening study quality, digitalisation, and international cooperation.

OpenEU, the pan-European open university, brings together eight leading European open and distance universities and two on-campus universities engaged in digital transformation to become the European Universities Initiative’s main asset for accessing, using, and exploring digital education knowledge and knowhow in the EHEA.
Harnessing the powers of digital technologies and representing over 368,000 non-traditional students and lifelong learners, OpenEU is propelled by its mission to establish the learner-centred, inclusive, digital and green European open university, widening access to higher education and lifelong learning to all, from anywhere.

The visit was organized within the framework of Work Package 5 of the project. At Daugavpils University, its implementation is coordinated by the Head of the Study Quality Evaluation Centre Ilona Plaksenkova and the Project Coordinator Karolīna Hrapāne.
