| Aim of the project: |
| The aim of the project is to strengthen, over the long term, Daugavpils University’s (DU) sustainable and internationally competitive scientific research by modernising and developing research infrastructure in line with Latvia’s RIS3 priorities (knowledge-intensive bioeconomy; photonics; smart materials, technologies and engineering systems), in order to raise the quality and volume of research, deliver high-value international results and collaborations, reinforce DU’s impact on the development of Latgale and Sēlija regions, promote cooperation with businesses and municipalities, and increase DU’s competitiveness within the European Research Area. |
| Planned project results: |
| During the project, scientific instruments and equipment will be purchased to implement the directions set out in DU’s development strategy. As a result of project implementation, by 30 September 2029 it is planned to achieve: funding obtained from DU research and development contract work and the transfer of intellectual property rights, as well as funding secured through international competitive calls for research and development projects, in the amount of at least EUR 6,440,424; at least 45 researchers (in full-time equivalent, FTE) working in the supported research facilities; the nominal value of DU research and innovation equipment of at least EUR 1,036,748. |
