On September 25, 2025, IHSS professor and senior researcher Anita Stašulāne and HSZI senior researcher Oksana Kovzele, Horizon Europe programme project “Promoting Understanding and Lifelong learning Successful Education through the ARTs and culture” (PULSE-ART) DU team representatives, participated in the event “Layers of Values: Exploring Impact in Culture, Art and Education” organized within the framework of the MONDIACULT conference, which took place in preparation for the UNESCO World Conference.
The event, which is a part of the expanded program “Towards MONDIACULT 2025”, was organized for training, exchange of experiences on inclusive evaluation practices, tools and strategies in cultural and educational projects and promotion of partnerships. It involved participants in three activities: best practice demonstrations, creative workshops and brainstorming groups.
During the first activity, the leaders of five EU-funded projects shared their experiences, explaining their project ideas, goals, challenges and results, and discussed how to avoid potential mistakes in project implementation. For example, the Dancing Philosophy – Dance, philosophy, research and education projectproposed combining dance with philosophy to better understand the human ability to “think” through body movement. Such an interdisciplinary perspective provided inspiration for the implementation of the DU planned case study “Dance”.
In the second activity, participants had the opportunity to choose one of four creative workshops. DU team representatives participated in the workshop “Defining and Measuring Intangible Outcomes”, coordinated by Dr. Sergi López (Science for Change, Spain). This workshop provided a platform for an exchange of views using the Miro platform At the same time, there were opportunities to participate in other workshops: “Developing Digital Evaluation Tools for Modular Assessment” – coordinator: Janis Ratbi (IRI – Centre Pompidou, France), “Critically Thinking the Role of the Evaluator” – coordinators: Marine Masson (Science for Change, Spain) and Franciska Casas-Cordero (ISGlobal, Spain) and “Evaluating Citizen Science with Art-Based Methods” – coordinator: Stefanie Schuerz (Zentrum für Soziale Innovation, Austria).
The event “Layers of Values: Exploring Impact in Culture, Art and Education”, which was attended by around 100 participants from different countries around the world, concluded with networking by creating several thought-exchange groups.
