On September 26, 2025, European Researchers’ Night 2025 took place at Daugavpils University, featuring more than 70 engaging activities and attracting around 3,000 visitors. Under the event’s motto Uncover the Researcher Gene Within You!”, researchers from the “Horizon Europe” project “Promoting Understanding and Lifelong Learning Successful Education through the ARTs and Culture”(PULSE-ART) invited participants to join the interactive activity “The Dancer Gene.”

The activity aimed to highlight the role of dance as a powerful creator of public cultural life, its enduring place in Latvia’s cultural heritage, and its relevance in contemporary creative expression. Children, young people, parents, and grandparents were all encouraged to take part in co-creation task, exploring elements of the Latvian national costume and learning the basic steps of folk dances. Participants also reflected on the role of dance in their personal lives and cultural awareness and expression competence.
